Work in Progress Wednesday - Pearls and Pieces

This week I worked on the pearls of the Queen’s veil and skirt and the pearls and crystals at her waist.

I also pieced the main part of the hussif and the two side pockets.  I hope to have some embellishing to show next week!

your work on the Queen is progressing well.
Thanks for pearl detail, otherwise they are hard to spot on this beautiful work and the block picture.

This portrait is getting more and more of a National Portrait Gallery item!
What are the stitches on the veil? Fly or Arrow Head?
What thread do you use to attache the pearls, beads and crystals? Beading or ordinary?

Thank you! The base stitches for the veil are diagonal tent stitches with one strand of silk. The gold line that makes the edge of the veil is kreinik ribbon, couched. The zig zag lines are stitched in a zig zag, like a double running stitch - out then back. The pearls, beads, and crystals are attached with white nymo beading thread. The holes in the pearls are very tiny, so I'm using a very thin needle (which means very difficult to thread!)
