Earthquake and TyphoonLast night, Ted’s phone started talking (in Japanese, of course), saying Jishin desu, jishin desu, over and over. It was warning us of an earthquake. There was an earthquake in Hokkaido, but we weren’t affected.
Super Typhoon Neoguri has hit Okinawa and is working its way north. It is described as a once in decades storm, with wind up to 250 km per hour. Two to four typhoons a year hit land in Japan, but it is unusual for it to happen in July. Neoguri is expected to hit Kyushu Thursday morning, before traveling across Honshu. Hokkaido is expected to get hit by a much reduced storm on Saturday. We will be paying close attention to the weather this week.
