Work in Progress Wednesday - Getting Unstuck #6 - the Lily

This one has been stuck because it is out of my comfort zone. I’m very comfortable with everything counted and with things I make up (no pattern or directions).  This project has a pattern and directions, but nothing exact.  The Lily was a Lynn Payette class I took at the Carolinas Regional EGA Seminar. I’ve put a few stitches in since coming to Japan, but very few.

This is what it looked like when I picked it up this time.

When it is eventually finished and framed, there will be a mat covering the edges.

If you’ve taken seminar classes you know that the teacher has to jump around to be able to teach all the techniques in the time of the class, with no section getting finished. Later I have to reread the directions to figure out where I am and what needs to be done. Anyway, it looks like the next thing to do is outline the flower petal sections with twisted cording I make with DMC floss and a little bit of shiny thread.  I have to decide on the thread colors and number of strands.

Here’s my first bit of twisted cord before and after it is couched down.

This is how much I’ve done so far.

I’ll try to stick with it and show some progress next Wednesday.

Looks like a challenge but I think you're up to it!

The cording makes a very attractive outline. I am sure you will grow fond of this project so don't turn it into a UFO again!
