Busy, Busy, Busy

I've been here in Kagawa almost two weeks now and I have been so busy.

The job is good.  The first week I spent four days observing other teachers, and one day teaching classes for a teacher on vacation.  Starting this week (and the new semester), I've had my own classes.  I teach at three different schools and all ages.  The schools have lots of materials and books so it's not difficult.

The living situation has been more challenging.  The first week I was in four different hotels, waiting for the previous teacher to move out of the apartment that would be mine.  I finally got to move in on Sunday and was very disappointed with the condition she left it in.  I've been cleaning all week and still have more to do.  I've hauled out 12 big bags of trash and still have a closet to empty.  I don't think she cleaned at all the entire year she was here. I've wanted to cry and vomit.  I know it will be fine once it is clean and once I get the furniture my contract says I will have.  I live on the third floor with a nice view. I'll try to get some pictures soon.

I hope to get my stitching unpacked soon.  I've just had two little projects and practically no time to work on them.  Cleaning the apartment comes first!

I heard in Korea they don't clean the house when they move out so that spirits wouldn't follow them to their new house. Do the Japanese believe in the same thing?

Moving is always difficult, to think you had to spend so much time getting into your new place and then all the cleaning - UGH. Thinking of you.

I read your blog after I emailed you. That's aweful! Is she Japanese? I am looking forward to see your pictures in Kagawa.

Oh Brother! My daughter has moved several times in the last few years and has found the exact same conditions. When she moved into the place where she is now, I helped all I could. I actually spent 3 hours in one small bathroom washing walls and ick. Unreal how people live.

Anyway, I'm glad the job is going well and hopefully you can get the flat in livable condition soon.
xx, Carol

I'm always amazed how people can do things like that....have they no self pride?
Hopefully you'll get through it all soon and can relax and unpack and unwind.

Life can be so challenging! But you're a creative person and you'll figure it all out! I'm with you, I've got my own piles of 'junk' here.

How horrible. I think I am thankful for cleaning deposits being required when renting apartments. I am glad the job is going well!
