Takamatsu Castle Matchlock Musket Squad Demonstration and "Kamigatamai" Japanese Dance

I had the good fortune to attend the musket demonstration and Japanese dance performance at Takamatsu Castle on Thursday.  I have never seen anything like it!

First all of the participants marched into the field accompanied by drums and horns made from shells. I imagine the costumes are all authentic, but I don't know.

Next was the fan dancer.  She did two dances, with different colored fans.

Each of the shooters had a box on his belt with plastic 35mm film cannisters and some kind of rope or cord that was lit.  Long guns and short guns (I don't know the proper gun terminology) were both used in this demonstration.

It was all very interesting!
