Peace Park Butterfly Garden, Okinawa

One of the things we saw at Peace Memorial Park was the Butterfly Garden, which is home to hundreds of Paper Kite Butterflies

It was like magic to see these fragile looking creatures all around us.

Fantastic, there are almost like little hearts among the markings on their wings.

How awesome! The butterflies are stunning, and sitting on the both of you you can see how huge they are.

Somehow it seems very Japanese to appreciate the beauty of a single species of simply-coloured butterfly, rather than having an array of flashily-coloured ones.

A butterfly garden is a magical place and you always remember the visit. However, I also remember watching a few mice scurry along the ground. They seemed to get along with the butterflies AND the visitors.
