It is Best to Bring Your Own

In Japan, you can't always be sure there will be toilet paper available in public toilets.  You might want to bring your own little packet of tissues in your bag. Otherwise, you better have a 100 yen coin so you can buy some.

I haven't seen one of these vending machine for a long time - there used to be plenty.

Well that could be useful to know! Is the tissue from the vending machines like regular toilet paper, or like Kleenex-style tissues?

Thankfully, we didn't run into any of these! We did learn it's best to bring your own towel, though.
