Doritos in Japan

I had eaten Doritos chips in the US. I think they were supposed to be a nacho cheese flavor.  They were okay, but not my first choice for a snack.  I tried these in Japan – a curry flavor, I think. Are they also available outside Japan?

I like these.

Nordic Blue Towel Finish

I didn’t want to leave this unfinished – I have too many unfinished projects the way it is!  I unstitched the mistake and finished the towel in a day.  The towel has two areas for stitching, so I did two different designs, using the same colors.

Stitch Group Finishes

Everyone finished their beaded bags, but I hadn’t been able to take a group photo because either someone or someone’s bag was missing each week.  Finally – here they are!  (The red and black and white one is mine.)

One person finished her stumpwork piece this week. Isn’t it great? The rest of us are still “in progress”.

She has a Hawaiian Quilt panel she is working on while the rest of us catch up.

Calligraphy and Lilacs

Saturday I went to Sapporo to participate in a Calligraphy workshop at Hokusei Gakuen, then go to the Lilac Festival in Odori Park.

The calligraphy workshop was a program for the high school students to practice their English with native English speakers by coming up with Kanji for the foreigners names and teaching them to write it.

The event was held in a 5th floor classroom with a view.  Not wanting to arrive late, I arrived a little early, and was the first to arrive.

There were fifteen tables with four or five students and a “guest” at each one. The students had fifteen minutes, then the groups changed.  After four fifteen minute sessions, the students won snacks for their efforts. The names the four groups I worked with came up with for me were:
Group 7 Wing Shoot Future, Love Romance
Group 8 Wave Sea Enjoy
Group 5 Wave Shoot Nice, Elegant Lotus
Group6 Leaf Bud Orchid, Love Lotus

I’ve attended three other events at this school and it's always fun.

Next I went to Odori Park, where the lilacs were in bloom and smelled wonderful.

The festival seems to be all about food booths and long lines.

Needless to say, I didn’t eat anything at the festival.  I had a nice day in the city and was home in time for dinner.

Don't Do This Unless Ted is Your Husband!

The “c” key on my computer was kind of sticking, so I thought I could fix it by using the vacuum cleaner to get any dust out. Don’t do it!  When I did it, the ‘n” and the “<,” keys got sucked up into the vacuum cleaner.  Luckily, Ted had just changed the bag a few days ago so there wasn’t much dirt in the bag.  I was able to retrieve the two keys, but I couldn’t put the vacuum cleaner back together.  Unfortunately, I couldn’t put the two keys back on either. (But, on a side note, the “c” key was working fine after the big suck up.) When Ted came home from work, he found a video on YouTube that explained what to do to get the keys back on and he fixed it! He knew how to put the vacuum cleaner back together without looking at YouTube.

He’s a pretty good handy man with other things around the house too.  Check out how he fixed a clogged drain here.

Key Holder Finish

Here is the finished key holder from the quilt show class.  I think it turned out very cute.
