Mt. Omuro - Too Windy for the Lift

Next, we planned to take the lift to the top of Mt. Omura. People are not allowed to walk up.  When we arrived, we found out the lift was not running because it was too windy.

Maybe you can get an idea of the wind from my braid.

At the base of Mt. Omuro is Sakura no Sato Park where there are 40 types of cherry trees which bloom at different times.

Some of the trees had already bloomed and were now leafed out, some were in bloom, some hadn't even budded yet.  There were different color blooms and different shapes to the trees.

The park is a nice place for families and for people to walk their dogs.

I hope to go back and take the lift to the top, as well as visit this park again.

The Japanese Lunch at Hanafubuki

After our hike, my friends took me to lunch at this wonderful place!

The setting reminded me of going to summer camp. The wooded area is gorgeous.

The lunch was fabulous!  How special each course was!

Everyone else had a beef dish for this course, but my friends requested a substitute for me ahead of time. I had fish with chili pepper.

The leaf covering this dish is edible.

Tea and dessert. The perfect finish for the best lunch!

The view from the restaurant.

Leaving the restaurant, and on to the next adventure.

Friday Finish - Nine Coasters

After making 40 coasters a while back, I made another one.

Then, a few days later, I made some more because I still had the sewing machine and fabric out.

Cherry Blossom Report and Sunday Stitch Group

I've seen cherry trees in bloom in other locations, but not yet where I live.  Yesterday I checked out two areas near my apartment where there are many cherry trees.  First - the Ogawa River - buds but no blooms.

Next, I walked to Funakoshi Park, and again, just buds.

This is yesterday's view of Mt. Fuji from the park.

Sunday, the stitch group met. First we had show and tell.

Japanese Hangings/Table Runners

Colorful drawstring bags - both front and back

Our new project is Candlewicking.  We needed to do some Colonial Knot practice first. They had done French Knots/Japanese Knots before, but the Colonial (figure 8) Knot was new.

Tea Time was very Spring and Hanami themed.

Jogasaki Hike and Hashidate Suspension Bridge

After visiting Tokaikan and Kinoshita Mokutaro Museum on Saturday, my friend and I went to my friend's sister's home, where we were joined by their sister-in-law and nephew.  We had a wonderful dinner and got a good night's sleep.

In the morning, we ate breakfast and headed out for a new adventure - a hike along the coast, including the suspension bridge.

It was a beautiful day and we had gorgeous views.

We went off trail and headed down to the sea.

We scrambled around on the rocks and saw some fishermen.

We went back to the trail and on to the suspension bridge.

From the bridge, we had views of some rock climbers below and the sea.

Onward and upward.

When we came out of the woods, we continued on to the port.

After the port, we went to a wonderful place for lunch.  More about that soon!
