Oto, Japan’s oldest lioness, died Monday at age 25. Lions typically live to age 10 in the wild and up to 20 years in captivity. A lion’s age 25 is said to be the equivalent of a human’s age 100.
She was born August 26, 1999 in Hokkaido’s Asahiyama Zoo. Since July 2001, Oto lived in the Toyohashi Zoo and Botanical Park in Aichi prefecture.
She remained healthy until late February, when she began sleeping more and eating less. She had no chronic diseases, but simply died of old age. In my opinion, not a bad way to go.
She was a beautiful animal. Nope, not a bad way to go!
ReplyDeleteNot a bad way to go at all.
ReplyDeleteHi Pamela: Lions are such majestic animals, so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI hope to live to be 100 and still stitching.

I agree. That is the best way to pass away.
ReplyDeleteRIP
I don't know whether I should be glad she got to live such a long life, or sad that she had to spend it all in captivity!
