500th Post and TAST 62 – Raised Cross Stitch Flower

This is the 500th post for Hokkaido Kudasai!  It’s hard for me to believe I’ve been in Japan so long. I guess it’s true – time flies when you are having fun.

This week’s Take A Stitch Tuesday stitch on Sharon B’s Pintangle blog is the raised cross stitch flower.  First I tried it out using perle cotton in #3, #5, #8, and #12.  I think it looks best in the thicker threads.

Next I tried it in 5 mm cotton ribbon, Frosty Rays, Sparkle Rays, and silk ribbon. This is an easy and quick stitch for a flower.

  1. It is also a pretty one! Thank you for sharing with us how it looks in different threads.
Congratulations on your 500th post, and wishing you many more happy moments in Japan to blog about.

  2. Very nice! I think they are all good. I like fine thread, but I think it really depends on what we are making with them.

  3. Congratulations on 500 posts! I have enjoyed all of them. The TAST stitch this week is really interesting looking - like a small couturier button.

  4. The way your thickest threads worked up, I think the flowers look like bobbles -- that could be fun in some projects, too. Congrats on 500!
