I wasn’t
sure what stitch to use in the background, so I consulted my friend and expert
needleworker, Rhoda. She suggested using
either the t-stitch or the Alicia Lace for a light background. I liked both, but decided on the t-stitch. I
didn’t want to use a color that would compete with Sonoko, so I chose to use
one strand of DMC rayon thread in a shiny gray color (30712). The shine doesn’t
show up in the photographs I took, but it does look nice when you see it. I
changed my mind about the oval and will make it into a rectangle a little
smaller than seven inches by three inches.
The project looks small and delicate, it will look nice when finished but sometimes the small, delicate work can be tedious. You will finish it beautifully, I'm sure, Pamela.
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed hard to see the background stitches from the pictures. It doesn't help either, that I don't know what the T-stitch is. I will have to check that out. It is nice that you are working towards finishing Sonoko.
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteGreetings, Manuela
