I
stopped working on it when I finished the second little bead cluster on her
necklace and decided it was too low. I
needed to cut it off and do it again. I
was afraid to cut the beads off because I didn’t want to disturb the silk
threads underneath the beads. So, there
she sat unfinished.
Finally,
I decided I just needed to do it. I cut off the offending beads. I did it again and took it out again. I worked on her left side and misjudged the spacing. Out it came.
I had to stitch and cut several times and it’s still not as evenly spaced as I’d like, but I wanted/needed to finish. So here she is! Queen Elizabeth I.

I have
the kits for two companion pieces, Mary and Bess. I wish I hadn’t purchased
them, but because they were so expensive, I will stitch them.
Wow! is the only appropriate word for this.
ReplyDeleteLove her! She's fab. =) Which is 'Bess'? Bess of Hardwick?
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, Bess of Hardwick. When I work my way through a few more of my unfinished projects, maybe I will start Bess or Mary.
DeleteVery rich looking and I think it turned out just right!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stitching Pamela, a real masterpiece.
ReplyDeleteShe's really beautiful., a masterpiece. Well done for your persistence
ReplyDeleteWhat a lot of work that has gone into this beautiful portrait! It is stunning and your even stitches and good judgement of repositioning the necklace proves what a highly skilled needlewoman you are, Master Pamela!
ReplyDeleteWait a bit and do some less time consuming pieces, then get started on Bess. Eventually you will have three portraits that will look fantastic together.
She looks fantastic. It is a masterpiece.
ReplyDeleteGreetings, Manuela

This is amazingly beautiful work. I know these designs are coloured for you by your interaction with the seller, but I hope you can set that aside and enjoy the others because the result you have achieved is stunning.
