Tokyo International Great Quilt Festival 2018 - Part 2 "Molas"
One of the special exhibits in this year's show was "In Praise of Molas - Fumiko Nakayama". This wonderful exhibit consisted of the complete works of Ms. Nakayama and some smaller works by her students.
This art form comes from the Guna people in Panama.
Queenie, my quilt show partner of the day was carrying a gorgeous mola bag that she made. Many people stopped her to comment on it. Unfortunately the photo I took of her with it was not clear. Please go to her blog to see a photo of her bag!
I'm still amazed at the number of people wearing masks. It's very unusual here (except the nurses & doctors in hospitals) and I don't even know where you could buy one, here...
Wonderful photos of the show! So glad you and Queenie have shared so many pics with us! I was hoping to see a photo of Queenie here with her lovely Mola bag, or that really she made it as part of one of the displays! Hugs, Barbara xx
Thanks, Pamela, for sharing the photos and info on the Tokyo International Quilt Festival. The Mola quilts are incredible, yes. The contrasting colors make great eye candy!

Mind-blowing! I had seen photos of some of these elsewhere, but many of them are new to me. It is an incredible collection of work.
