Yabusame Festival
After visiting the Yamamiya Sengen Shrine in the morning, followed by our wonderful lunch, we headed for the festival.
We had special seats directly across from the first of the two target areas, with nothing to block our view!
First we watched the parade. I love all the costumes!
(I also like to watch other people watching the parade).
I took hundreds of pictures of the horses riding by and the riders shooting the target, but I'm only posting a few, I promise!
It might be hard to see, but the following are a sequence. You can see the arrow hitting the wood target and the wood pieces falling.
The festival was very exciting and the whole day was really wonderful, thanks to my friends!
It's like being in another country and in another era, isn't it? I can understand why the spectators are so excited.

ReplyDeleteInteresting festival, and lovely to see the other spectators enjoying it too.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of festivals in Japan. The costumes are so colorful. The parade WAS a wonderful place to people watch, especially the children. I always love to watch the faces of children.

Sounds fun! You are getting good at taking pictures of riders in full speed too.
