Oh, the Onsens!

Soaking in hot hot water - What could be more relaxing?  I went to the onsens every day!

This one has an indoor bath, clear water, and costs 300 yen.

This one has both an indoor and an outdoor bath and costs 300 yen.

This one was 500 yen and had an indoor bath.  It was my least favorite.

This is a free outdoor co-ed onsen.  Bathing suits must be worn here.

You have to walk down these steps to get to the bath.

This one was my favorite. It has an indoor bath and a gorgeous outdoor bath that over looks the ocean. The entry is 500 yen.

This free foot bath was near the sea and had a great view.

If you love soaking in the hot baths, this is the place to be!

  1. Hot baths are wo derful aren't they, we have them in NZ too, there is a free one in the park in Rotorua for feet soaking. Have not found any here in Aus yet. You had some beautiful views.

  6. I think I have to know more about them. In all, I don't think it appeals to me. Unless it's private. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to navigate the one with the stair entry. I agree there are wonderful views.

  7. Oh what memories you bring back. I remember the first onsen I set foot in, how hot it was. It was at a ryokan and outside and it was VERY winter (Yamagata, February). And yet I was so warm. The other was in the mountains of Shiga. Well, maybe not mountains. It was large / not coed. I was the only non-Asian and the youngest. A powerful experience.

  8. What a choice! I hope it rained a lot so you had reason to take a long soak at each place!

  9. I'm looking forward to the onsens, although I'm afraid I might chicken out of actually going! Also, one of our friends has tattoos, so we'll have to do some research on where we can go.
