The range of different techniques is amazing. The prize winners don't grab me, but I guess the judges could look inside and handle the bags, so they may have qualities that aren't obvious from the photos.
I really like the one you have a big photo of towards the end - grey and blue, with appliqued flowers and the dimensional folding technique. It looks elegant and beautifully-made.
WOW! so many beautiful bags..hard to choose one from all on display! Some of them have such fine work. I think I like the Boro one near the top with the red patch.
Good to see you took many more photos than I did. Thanks for sharing. My favorite? It is difficult, but I think the chirimen bag is fun, and maybe useful for carrying some large and flat object horizontally - a pizza or cake for example!
Hello, thank you for sharing your pictures from the Festival with us! I love bags and am intrigued by the bag made with tatami ribbon (if that is the correct word ...). I like the one with the appliqued flowers and the tiny folds in the fabric (just before the 3 winners). Awesome craftsmanship! I would not dare use such a bag!
I can't being to imagine the countless hours that have gone into any one of these bags. They're all gorgeous and all so unique.

ReplyDeleteWhat a lot of beautiful bags! I would have chosen the one towards the end with the flowers inside the handle. xx
ReplyDeleteOh thank you for sharing the pics! I LOVE Japanese bags.

The outer look of all the bags is superb! To decide on a favorite one I have to see what's inside.

The embroidered bouquet of flowers caught my eye.
ReplyDeleteA great selection, very talented people who made these.

I love when beautiful and useful are combined, but some of these look way too pretty to actually use them!
