Constitution Day and Komyo-ji Buddhist Temple

Today is Constitution Day, a national holiday it Japan.  It was on this day in 1947 that the new postwar constitution was put into effect.

I walked to Komyo-ji Buddhist Temple to get some fresh air and exercise. It was a small but interesting place.

  1. I like the tree near the gate. Are local people's remains buried at these small local temples? The gravel is beautifully raked, looks so good.

The care takers do a wonderful job keeping it up.

  4. It is fantastic to think of how much time and effort it takes to rake the gravel so evenly, probably every day!

  5. This is beautiful. The sand (gravel?) garden is especially beautiful as is the statuary. I'm so glad you have so many wonderful temples hear you.
