Mejii Yasuda Life Insurance has just released its 2022 survey of the most popular baby names in Japan, based on the company's data from policy holders as of September 2022. In 2022, the survey consisted of the kanji names of 8,561 girls and 8,952 boys. Some kanji can be pronounced different ways.
Only one name ending in -ko for girls, and no -jiro for boys. Names are indeed changing! We know a small GIRL called Aoi. It is getting more and more difficult to know the gender of the child from the name.
Now I wonder what our current ones are!

There are some names on there I haven't heard before. Interesting how names go in and out of fashion!
