Okinawa -Gesahi Bay Mangrove Forest, Yambaru National Park
Staying with my outdoor, uncrowded vacation plan, the next place to visit was Gesashi Bay in Yambaru National Park. This is the largest mangrove forest in Okinawa, covering about 10 hectares. Three of four types of mangrove plants can be seen here. This area was recognized as a nation treasure by the Ryukyu Kingdom in 1959, and by the government of Japan in 1972.
The sign boards are in Japanese, but there are plenty of pictures.
I think it is a great idea to build such sturdy decked pathways, to invite visitors but keep them 'on the right path' and not venture into the bush. The vegetation is fantastic.
A trip without crowds is a great success. It is easy to destroy nature, but very difficult to regenerate it. It takes a lot time. In order to enjoy sightseeing, everyone wants to follow the rules.
Hello Pamela: this is an amazing place I like that no one can go into the forest; it should be for viewing only. Thank-you for sharing your lovely photos.
Another lovely spot for a walk. So nice to be able to enjoy somewhere that is not crowded with people.
