Monday evening in Kitakata, Fukushima Prefecture, a bear measuring 90 centimeters head to tail was found in the living room of a man in his 60’s, according to local police. The bear had his head inside a kotatsu (a table with a blanket attached and heater inside) and was eating food from the table top.
The man escaped unharmed to a neighbor’s house and called the police. The bear was still in the house at 11:30 am Tuesday, so the police used loud firecrackers to scare the bear out of the house. The bear then ran to a shed about 20 meters away and hid until 3:30 pm, when it was anesthetized with a dart and later released in the mountains.
After this event, the police advised everyone to lock their doors, to prevent another incident like this. Good advice, I think.
That would scare me to make sure my doors are locked have a great week.

The story of Goldilocks in reverse!
ReplyDeleteI think 2024 should be named The Year of The Bear after reading yet another bear-y incident.
That would definitely be freaky!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds kind of funny to witness, although I am sure finding a bear in your house is very scary, even if it's a small one!
