Last week I went to Susanoo Shrine’s Hina display in Izu-Inatori and the Kawazu-Zakura Festival.
I visited this shrine in 2018 to see the Hina display, and even met the Hina Princess. This year, there was no princess, but the display was still beautiful. There are 118 levels and 380 dolls.
Next, I went to Kawazu. The Kawazu-zakura is the earliest cherry tree to bloom. Every year in early February, the town holds a festival along the 4 km river with over 850 trees.

Oh Pamela, this is unbearably beautiful. I was wowed at first by that huge display of dolls, which was amazing. But then amazement turned to awe when your cherry blossom images began to show. I cannot even imagine the joy of walking through this area or the fragrance that has to surround you. It is stunning -- what a remarkable experience.
ReplyDeleteThe display of dolls is beautiful, but what happens if it rains? Love the cherry blossoms.
ReplyDeleteThe dolls are taken in each afternoon and put out each morning by volunteers. I imagine the volunteers are on standby if it looks like it might rain.
DeleteI love the beauty you can find in Japan - both manmade in the form of dolls and natural in the form of blossoms.
ReplyDeleteThe cherry trees are in a nice location with the river and carpets of yellow rape blossoms. It's a pity the cherry blossoms have no fragrance.
At the moment, the plum trees are at their best in Tokyo, and they emit the most wonderful scent.
