Hanging Around

I’ve been doing some fall cleaning, along with rearranging the furniture and the things hanging on the wall.  Today I’m posting about four wall hanging quilts that I've moved around – all were made before moving to Japan.

This quilt was an intro to quilting community class I took when I lived in Indianapolis.  The label says 1995-1999.  I think I probably had the top made (machine pieced) during the class, but it took a while to hand quilt it.

This is a friendship sampler quilt. I made doubles of three of the blocks and my then-friend made doubles of three blocks.  We shopped for the fabric together and machine pieced and hand quilted it together.  It was finished in 1997.  Although we are no longer friends, I still like the quilt.

This tulip applique wall hanging was a class I took at an Indiana quilt show.  It was hand-quilted and was finished in 2002.

This piece was my semester project for a graduate “Creative Process” class at North Carolina State University. The paper that accompanied it was about 15 pages long – a lot went into the process and there is a lot of meaning in this! It was made in 2009.

I am linking up with Whims and Fancies, Trunk Full of Quilts post. This link up event is being held 10-18 November. Check it out here to link up your post or see other quilts.

  11. I'm really intrigued by your use of a quilt for a class project. I bet it was a whole lot more fun to make the quilt than write the paper (can you tell that I find writing excruciatingly difficult?)--although I can see how both together are probably really important to make it very special to you.

  19. Your sample block at the top inspires me to use the odd blocks I have made and have had no idea what to do with, but couldn't throw them away! Hopping the trunk show!!!
