The Japanese are so good at finding reasons to celebrate their culture. Sometimes they play on words for the dates, like in gofuku (5-2-9) and sometimes just because it is the season. June 11 is celebrating umbrellas, kasa-no-hi, because it is the beginning of the rainy season,
It took me a moment to realise the significance of the numbers, as we always put the day first rather than the month. But it sounds like as good a reason as any to celebrate the beautiful kimono fabrics.
These are as elegant as their models. I noticed someone complimented the Japanese on celebrating their culture so frequently and I agree. Thanks for sharing so we can all learn to appreciate other countries and their personalities.
