Work In Progress Wednesday - Chicken Scratch and Sparkling Trees

This week I made some progress on the watermelon chicken scratch.

I started a new ornament for this month's Small's SAL.

I also did some beading that I will show in a few days.

World Embroidery Day Plan

Happy Birthday to Julie from Julie's StitchyKnitter Journal!

Today is World Embroidery Day.   Here is my stitching plan for the day -

Before work  - I will work on some beady things.

At lunch time  - I will work on my watermelon chicken scratch.

After work - I want to start a new ornament for next month's Smalls SAL, but I haven't chosen which one yet.  Maybe cross stitch or beads?

Are you stitching today? Tell me about what you plan to do.

New Shoes

Shopping is about my least favorite thing to do.  I really hate it. For a little while now (maybe months), I've been thinking I need to buy a new pair of shoes.  I walk a lot and my shoes had worn down.

My recent excuse for not shopping for new shoes has been the rainy season. This year it has been raining all the time

I really liked these shoes and when I finally went back to the store where I bought them, I found out they don't carry this brand of shoe now. Oh no!

Luckily, I found another kind of shoe at another store that I think will be good. They are little lighter than my old shoes and feel very comfortable so far.  In addition, they are blue!

Smalls Stitch A Long 2019 - July

This month I finished the Flapper Cat ornament. I think the front looks cute.  I put press on felt on the back and it doesn't look so nice, but it is the back and hopefully won't be seen.

This was a little kit. I have a couple of other "flapper" ornament kits that I will work on sometime soon.

This year's Smalls SAL is hosted by Mary at Mary's Thread.

I finished this set of fobs.  I love how they all turn out different.

Brazilian Stitch Group

The stitch group met on Sunday to begin a Brazilian Embroidery project.  Before stitching, we had a bit of show and tell of recent projects. All of the NHK Partnership blocks are finish (mine has already been mailed).

First thing for our new project is renshu (practice). I think the most difficult part of Brazilian Embroidery is the slick z-twist rayon thread. We practiced a number of different stitches and decided we need some additional practice before we can begin our project, which is a small pin.

For tea time, we were like the polar bear block and went for kakigori.  Here is a post about the last time we went to this shop together.  The menu looks the same.

Strawberry Milk Kakigori

Two Macha Kakigori

This is mine - anko (sweet beans) with fruit.

Until next time, we will be practicing Brazilian stitches and planning the designs for our project.

Work In Progress Wednesday

I've been busy with the Fobs and will post a group photo of them as soon as they are all finished.  Maybe I'll do something else beady since I have all of the beads out of the closet. I worked on stitching the temperature blocks to the background and showed that on Monday.

I continued working on the watermelon chicken scratch and it is progressing.

I saw these when I was walking and thought they were nice.

Bon Appetit

Saturday I met two friends for lunch at a restaurant owned by another of our friends. It was fun to catch up with each other and enjoy a delicious lunch.

One person ordered this:

Two of us ordered this - ratatoui with pasta (Oishii katta desu).  I forgot to take a photo of the salad. We had cold coffee after the meal.

If you are in Shizuoka City, please go to Bon Appetit!

Pang Pong Tournament 2019

Every summer the company where I work holds the employee Pang Pong competition.  Everyone likes to point out that this is an original sport with this company.  The winner of this location goes on to play the other locations of the company in September. I like to go to support and cheer for my students.

You can see posts from previous  competitions in 2018, 2017, and 2016.
