Golden Week 2022 - Miho no Matsubara

Yesterday I decided to walk to Miho no Matsubara. According to Google Maps, it's four and a half miles from where I live, so I had a nice walk there and back.  I have been to Miho no Matsubara several times, the last time was New Year's Day 2021, when I went to see the first sunrise of the year.

First, here is Mt. Fuji as I left my apartment, sitting in the clouds.

It was warm when I started out, but once I got near the sea (that red square on the map), there was a nice cool breeze.

I walked on the walkway near the beach and there was a nice view.

There is a path through the pine trees.

The giant really really old pine trees are the stars here.

There is a nice wooden walkway that leads to the Miho Shrine.

It was a nice way to spend the afternoon. I really should visit this place more often.

  1. I enjoy your travels, both near and far from home. The story about the French dancer was interesting! And sad. Dot

  2. We probably all have beautiful places near us we forget to visit as often as we could or should. Thank you for sharing pictures of one of yours.

  3. Good to see so few people around. Haneda airport was crowded with treavelers so people ARE on the go after several years of non-travel.
Pinetrees are really beautiful, in any country, but they kind of look their best in Japan. I wonder why? I hope you will have many more chances to visit Miho no Matsubara.
By the way, how long did it take you to walk there?

  5. I have never seen such giant pine trees growing near the beach. It's a rainy day today. The temperature is not stable. Take care 😚.

  6. That was quite a walk, and to a very scenic place. It looks like you managed to avoid crowds.

  7. What a gorgeous place. The trees are fascinating and so beautiful. That's a hike. My foot starts to fail after about a mile and a half, try as I may.

  8. You certainly have a lovely place to walk. I miss that living here on this mountain. Nothing is flat and the road is too curvy to walk safely from cars.
