More Kamakura

Some places I happened upon, not knowing about them until I was there.

Yakumo-Jinja Shrine - this is a small local shrine at the top of a big hill.

National Historic Site - Remains of Tokiwa Manor of the Hojo Family

National Historical Site - Kewaizaka

Statue of Minamoto Yoritomo in Genjiyama Park

Minamoto Yoritomo was born in 1147 and died in 1199, and was the founder of the shogunate system whereby feudal lords ruled Japan for 700 years.

As I was walking back to the train station, I came across Yasaka Daijin Shrine.

After that, I went to the train station and home again.  Kamakura is a wonderful day trip.

  1. Pamela: How lovely it is that they are preserving so many very important sites, here in the US they want to destroy and build new in many places, sad so very sad.

  2. You stumble onto some nice places on your hiking day in Kamakura.
It's good that you are into the habit of taking photos so you can check up on what your have found afterwards.
