I've had a wee think about those horrid staplers - they were used mainly for the smaller quilts, weren't they? Could it be that a small quilt is easier to 'lift' and the organisers wanted to make them 'burglar proof'? Or did they want to prevent visitors from turning the quilts over to see the back? I am glad you took a photo of the whole of Noriko Nozawa's quilt (with the lacy leaves), I forgot that and only have the detailed picture.

They are all stunning, but that pink on light blue one - wow!
