Yokohama World Quilt Festival 2022 - Part 2, Group Quilts
The next section was group quilts (made by several people). We looked close at these quilts to see how they were joined and quilted. We also wondered who gets to keep the group quilt and decided they were probably donated or maybe raffled off for charity.
They were all impressively large. Working on one's own small section can't have been as difficult as putting all the parts together. You need a large home, not only to display these quilts but to assemble them, too! Which is your favourite? I know the last quilt was the real show stopper but I preferred the one with two sailboats.
Must be interesting to not just enjoy the pretty quilts, but to get close and study the technique! Some of these it seems pretty obvious how they divided the pattern for everyone to get a section, others, not so much.
These quilts are as beautiful as pictures.

Pamela: Another amazing display of quilts, the last one is my favorite, stunning colors and finish.

Amazing work. I'm really surprised that some of these are group quilts, as they are so complex. They must be groups full of very talented quilters!
ReplyDeletethat sailing one especially appeals to me!
