Omamori are Japanese amulets or good luck charms and are sold at shrines and temples. You can buy them for general good luck or for specific things, like safe driving, or passing entrance exams, or good health, or happiness, or business prosperity, or other things.
I was inspired by this blog post and made my own general good luck omamori. I haven’t mastered the pretty knot, but may try it the next time.

Both sides are charming. The knot is elegant and complex but with that excellent video, I am sure it is doable. Do give it a try.

The method of tying amulet threads is called“Mizuhiki”.(水引)
It's good to search on YouTube, but I also recommend borrowing a book titled“How to tie Mizuhiki”(水引きの結び方)
from the library. The way you tie it has a meaning, so I think it's best to tie it in a celebratory way.
An auspicious knot is called a celebratory knot.(祝い結び)

I think it would be a good idea to ask your friends in your sewing group. Like me, they will know which knots will and won't suit your amulet.
