My good friend in Hokkaido sent me this wonderful package before my surgery.  I have it with me at the hospital.  I am very thankful.

Work in Progress Wednesday - More Heart Stitches

I was able to put a few more stitches in the heart before going to the hospital.  I don't know when I'll get back to this one.

Hospital Stitching

I don't know if I will feel like stitching after surgery, I didn't feel like stitching for weeks after my surgery two years ago. Just in case I do feel well enough to pick up a needle, I will be ready.  I'm bringing some fabric squares and hexagon templates so I can baste a few more Japanese fabric hexies.  

I also found this piece of 12x12 inch pewter 20 count Lugana.  I started a simple ornament that I can continue with if I feel like it.  

Both projects take little concentration and are easy to stitch.  I hope I feel like working on one or both of them while I am in the hospital.

Monday Morning Star Count - Gift Placemats

I used some of the Japanese fabric hexagons to decorate some store bought placemats.  This pair is a housewarming gift for some friends in the US.  I hope they like this simple little gift and will enjoy using them. (This gift went into the mail last week, so they should arrive soon!)

Deja Vu

Two years ago, I had surgery for cancer.  I've had check ups and blood tests every other month as follow-up.  Earlier this summer the blood tests detected a problem and I've had all kinds of tests and scans to determine what the problem is.  Long story short, I'm checking into the hospital today, with surgery to remove this new cancer scheduled for tomorrow. I think it will all turn out okay. 

I've written and scheduled posts to pop up each day, just as if I were home. I plan to be home before they run out, but it may be out of my control. I'll be back as soon as I can!

The Alphabet Club - M

No "L" in Japanese, so I am skipping ahead to the letter M, which is for Midori or Green. Blue is my favorite color, but I have a few things I've done with some green.

December Needleroll Finish

Perfectly Pleasing Pin Cushion Parade 2016

My Sister Made Me Do It blog is hosting a pin cushion link up and I’m joining in.  

The one on the left is the one I use the most. It’s so full of pins that it’s hard to tell that it is a cross stitch sampler. The alphabet is under all the yellow pins. I made it in 1996. The wheat pin cushion is one I made in 1997 and I think I made the bird biscornou in 2012.

This "Elegant Emery" is a scissor fob and pin cushion in one.

This set was from a Susan Greening Davis weekend in Myrtle Beach.  She always has great projects for her get-aways.

This pin ball is filled with wool and I've done a strawberry pattern with rice stitches.

This is a little mattress pin cushion in a fold over that also holds scissors, needles, and a tape measure.

This Christmas tree biscornu can be used as an ornament or as a pin cushion.  I put lavender in it so make it smell good.

I made this oak biscornu and gave it as a gift.

This is the hexagon pin cushion.

These aren’t “cushions”, but hold pins so I consider them as the same thing as pin cushions.  I think they are even better than pin cushions because they are compact and can easily be carried along without getting stuck with the pins.  My favorite is the heart, made in 1996.

Making Needlebooks

My stitch group met again this weekend.  One person was unable to attend, but the others brought their pincushions from the last get together.  

We stitched and talked and made some cute and useful needlebooks.

Monday Morning Star Count - 100 Japanese Hexagons

I've made 23 new hexagons, which makes a total of 100 Japanese fabric hexagons.

Another Beady Panda

When I was in Hokkaido, I bought a little panda fob bead kit and made it.  I recently found another panda fob bead kit and bought it.  I don't know which one is cuter.  I hope to be able to post a finished picture soon.

The Alphabet Club - K

I'm still trying to catch up!  The rest of the club is on "N" and I'm only up to "K". The word for today is Kaban, the Japanese word for bag, and I'm showing some bags I've made.
