April Rain in Hokkaido

Last year we were still getting snow in April, so the rain we have had the last few days seems strange.  We haven’t had any snow fall in a week or so.  Maybe spring is on its way.

The rain we are getting is part of a system that first hit the main island of Japan over the weekend. High winds and record rainfall caused trains between Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe to stop and flights in and out of Tokyo to be cancelled. The Japan Times reports three drowning deaths, including one in Hokkaido, but the article didn't give details on the Hokkaido death.

I’ve nearly finished the front cover of my pins and needles book, and picked out this purple fabric for the lining.

Here’s a photo of the University Outdoor Life Department this weekend after their retreat. What a great way to start the school year.
