In hospitals there used to be vending machines that sold arrangements of cut flowers in baskets, I have seen hamburger vending machines, too. There was a microwave inside that 'cooked' the frozen burger and bun before the hamburger dropped down the chute. Only in Japan, eh?!
I never would have imagined! Many years ago, we were able to visit some of my husband's relatives in the Netherlands. When my hubby saw a vending machine with croquettes, his curiosity got the best of him. His grandmother had made these deep fried, breaded meat treats before, but he could not imagine finding them in a vending machine. It must have worked much like the vending machine Queenie mentioned, but my poor husband did not have a clue. He popped the croquette directly into his mouth, not realizing how incredibly HOT it would be. We still chuckle about the memory.
I cannot say I have ever seen a vending machine with alcoholic beverages - or umbrellas for that matter! Thanks for sharing.
