Scouts at the Station

Last week I saw these seven scouts in full uniforms at the train station.  I talked with them a little bit.  They told me they were traveling alone (no adults)  to Gotemba.  I didn't understand what exactly they were doing.  I told them I had been a scout in the US when I was young. In Japan it is common to see children walking to school or traveling by train on their own. I like living where it is so safe.

Good looking kids, sounds like a fun adventure for them.

The Japanese are very fond of group activities, uniforms and rules. Scouting fosters many fine qualities and comradeship.
Yes, isn't it nice to live in a country where one can feel safe!
