Sattatoge Adventure

Three friends and I made plans to meet at the train station at 9:30 am last Saturday for our Sattatoge adventure. You may remember reading about my adventure friends when we hiked to Nihondaira Terrace, or when we visited the historic Shin-Kambara area, or when we went to Night Zoo.  Before leaving home, I took this Mt. Fuji photo. There would be better views of Fuji san on our hike.

We took the train to Okitsu to begin our hike.  In Japan, there are always interesting things to see along the way.

As we climbed higher, we had gorgeous views of Suruga Bay and Mt. Fuji.

We had lunch in Yui at a famous restaurant, Kurasawa Ya, and we all ordered the same thing - Crab Kamameshi.

After lunch we visited a museum in Yui that had been an inn on the Tokaido Road long ago.  The Japanese garden was enchanting.

The inside was also very interesting.

We decided to stop for coffee at the News coffee shop, which was a tiny place behind the newspaper shop.  There was barely enough room for all of us to stand inside and order.  After we ordered, we had to go outside behind the shop.

We continued on to the Yui train station and took the train back home.  It was such a fun day! (Stay tuned, we have another adventure planned for the future.)

Thanks for sharing the good view of Sattatoge. Its information board in your photo says Sattatoge was one of 53 views drawn by Hiroshige.

It sounds like a terrific day. And your lunch looked really good (and well deserved after that climb!) You do the most exciting things1

What a fun adventure! Fuji-san looks so impressive in these pictures. It's hard to believe that something this big can be hidden from view by a little mist.
