Yokohama World Quilt Festival 2022 - Part 1, Beauties and Splendors from Japan

Monday, I took the train to Yokohama to meet with friends and attend the Yokohama World Quilt Festival 2022. The show was smaller than the pre-pandemic Tokyo International Great Quilt Festivals, but quite a bit bigger than the quilt show we attended in the spring of this year. The different sections of the show were divided by the wall colors.  The first section was - - -

Each quilt had a light at the top of it and it made it difficult to take photos.

I saw the quilt below at the Shizuoka Quilt Show.

More quilts coming soon.....

  2. You have an excellent camera 'trigger finger' and can take snaps of the quilts at the precise moment people have just moved away. My pictures often have various body parts, quilts with elbows, heads or shoulders...
It was difficult to take good and even pictures of the quilts because of the spotlights. However, those lights made the beads and metallic thread sparkle in a way they would not have without the lights.
Do you have a favourite quilt within this selection? I was quite impressed with the last framed ones, it is not often one sees a quilt of that size with a frame! Nor ones stretched on a canvas.

  5. It has been a delight to see these quilt shows over the years, courtesy of you and your friends with their photos too!
The photos are still great with those lights over them, as Queenie says they even help to see some of the finer detail. And you have done well to capture these photos as the crowds move from one quilt to another, well done. 😁👍

    Thank you for sharing.

  6. Wow, those people are amazingly creative! I love all the flower ones, but I think my favourite is the one with the red and orange trees on the blue backgrounds.
