Gee, what happened to Kainsai and Chuubu airports?!
I haven't used Haneda for a long time, but I saw a documentary about the cleaning routines at the airport. They actually scrape off all the dirt between the metal racks of each step on the escalators. They have inspectors who go around every day and take photos with an iPad of dirt or stains and then write up a to-do list for the cleaners who come in at night to do the job.
I usually use Narita Airport but I don't find it especially interesting, nor easy to use or friendly. I would call it cool and efficient, but not welcoming.
