The gate looks fantastic in the last picture with its red colour and iron fortifications.
Actually, I think the gate is most unusual as it has a long wall/fence along both sides. Most temple gates are standing alone, just flanked by the two guardian deities Nio, aren't they?
I stand corrected! You are absolutely right, this is a SHRINE, not a temple after all!
I find these so beautiful -- all much the same, yet with their own unique differences.
