Moon Dragon Finish

I really enjoyed working on the Sun Dragon and the DragonMaster, but the Moon Dragon… well, not so much.  Near the end, it’s been a real chore to work on it.  I’m glad it is finished!

Next on my big project list to work on, and hopefully finish, is the Queen.

I’m linking up with SharonB’s Work in Progress Wednesday.  You can join in to be encouraged to work on (and finish) your big projects or take a look at the projects of others.

Stitching with Friends

I stitch with two little groups each week.  On Friday afternoons I stitch with another English teacher from the university.  We compare notes on our classes and students while we stitch.  Sometimes we work on hexagon paper pieced flowers and I was happy to hear she is teaching this to her neighbor. This week, she worked on a cross stitch fob and I worked on my moon dragon.

There are four of us in the other group, but one had a baby recently and is taking a little break from stitching.  We are all working on canvas knot gardens.

It’s not the same as my stitch groups in the US were, but nothing here in Japan is the same.   I am happy to have stitching friends.

Work in Progress Wednesday - Slow Progress is Still Progress

I’ve stitched all week but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of progress.

I’ve continued with the accentuate overstitching and have just the loop of the tail left to do with that.  The photo doesn’t show the sparkle, but it’s there.  It's well worth the time it takes to stitch over every stitch.

On the RSN garden, I’ve added a small yellow flower section.

On the small garden, I’ve worked on the lower section.  There’s still a lot to do!

Posting each week on my big projects is keeping me working on them.  Yes, I’m still starting new ones, but I’m not putting away the old ones.  Check out the progress other stitchers are making at Pintangle.

Work In Progress Wednesday - On Thursday

I made no progress on the small garden this week.  I stitched on my RSN garden with the Tuesday group.  I worked on the bushes in the opposite corner using all the different colors.  I also made a couple of plants near the water - more plants to come.

Here are the other gardens with mine.  We are all having a good time choosing stitches and threads.

It’s hard to see in the photos, but on the dragon, I’m working on the sparkle over stitching.

So much for my big project progress this week.  Hop over to SharonB’s Pintagle to check out the progress everyone else has made this week.

Work in Progress Wednesday

I’ve finished the first layer of stitches in silk for the dragon body.  Next, I’ll overstitch each of these stitches with one strand of Accentuate to give the dragon some sparkle.

The little garden was my take along project this week and I made a good bit of progress.

I put no new stitches in the RSN garden this week, but hope to have something to show next week.

Work in Progress Wednesday is something of a support group organized and coordinated by SharonB for those working on large projects.  Check out the comments on the most recent WIPW Pintangle post to see and encourage stitchers with WIPW projects.

Work in Progress Wednesday - Trees, Flowers, and the Spine

I’ve made progress on these three projects this week.

On the dragon, I couched two more lines on the spine and put a few more stitches in the body.

On the RSN garden I finished the turkey stitches (although I’m afraid to cut the tops of the loops) and started another flower bed area.

On the small garden, I’ve worked on some trees and still more knots.

Work In Progress Wednesday - Dragon and Garden

I’ve done more on the dragon body.  I’m not happy with the color changes.  I’ve been changing one thread of the three at a time, but it doesn’t blend.  I don’t have enough thread to take this out and start over, so it will stay. I still need to add the over stitches with Accentuate so that might help.

With the Tuesday group, I’ve made a small amount of progress on the RSN garden.  I’m doing turkey stitches with wool.  Later I’ll cut the tops off to make this into bushes.

I also worked on the small garden.  I still have lots of knots to make.

Work in Progress Wednesday - On Thursday

I’m working on the dragon body.  The body stitches use three strands at a time and there are six colors of silk that have to be blended.  I’m not really happy with the way this is going, but I keep telling myself done will be better than perfect.

I’m linking up with Pintangle’s WIPW weekly post. Check it out and encourage other stitchers who are working on some long term projects.
