Hachijo Jima Ozato Tamaishi Wall

One morning, on the advice of Eiko-ba, I walked to the Ozato Tamaishi Wall.  It took about an hour and a half and I came across many interesting things along the way. First, there was a little roadside park.

I had to walk through this little tunnel (both going and coming back).  It was a little scary, maybe dangerous, when a car drove through.  I tried to get as close to the wall as I could.

On the other side was a nice lookout area.

This is what the tunnel looked like from the other side.

There was a second tunnel, but it had a sidewalk so it wasn't as scary.

I saw this on the side of the road and had to walk inside to investigate.

At last, the wall area!

The whole area has these round stones making up the walls. If you look at the stones straight on, you can see hexagons. I can, anyway. Very interesting area.

I couldn't help taking a picture of this - it's the close, closed thing, you know.

That looks like a very pleasant walk, except for the scary tunnel section.

That tile piece is beautiful but I would have been seriously freaked walking through the tunnel. Wow -- that stone wall is magnificent!

The wall and all the landscapes are fascinating. Is that a shrine gate?

What a wonderful place to be and to see. Really those walls are pretty amazing and the stones are all so same yet different. It doesn't look like many people are around while you walk. Are you walking alone? Does that scare you even a little? The places you visit in Japan seem pretty safe.

I just happened to think before I clicked publish is visiting your blog is like a travelogue.

It was worth going through that tunnel to get to the beautiful wall, wasn't it?

I can see the hexagons too! I like the round stones. It looks like a perfect wall to run your hand along as you walk beside it haha. :)

What an interesting wall and walk! That tunnel looks scary, though.
