Tokyo Marathon 2024 Limited-edition Souvenir T-shirt

The Tokyo Marathon is one of the biggest, most important distance running events in Japan. Every year there is a lottery to determine who gets to participate. This year, a special shirt was offered for sale (see picture above). Unfortunately, no one proof read the English text.

Run Tokyo and the date were fine.  "Start" was correct, but the end point on the map was designated as the "Funish" instead of the "Finish".  Oh NO!

The shirt maker/seller, Asics has issued an apology apologized and offered full refunds, even if the shirt has been worn, promising to make thorough efforts to improve their quality control in the future.  I think some people might want to keep the shirts as a collector's item.

English is difficult.

Pamela: I have read where mistakes have been made in printing that the item will become a collector's item, I hope so for the owners of the shirts.

It's a great design with the route marked out, but I imagine that someone is in trouble.

Unfortunately, the Japanese are not very good at proofreading. All too often we can see spelling mistakes.
Let's hope this incident results in 1) the T-shirt becoming a collector's item, 2) an example is set so that all involved in the production of such a T-shirt learn to check and double-check what they are printing.

I like that the landmarks of Tokyo are illustrated along the route.

Better luck next time!

Even though a famous manufacturer is sponsoring a major tournament, their work unworthy.😨 But I feel like many of the participants keep it as a memento. It will become a rare item in a few years.

Maybe, they just wanted to emphasize how much FUN the event is!
