In Japan, you have to pay extra to get a plastic grocery bag at the store, so people use their own market bags to carry their groceries home. I made this one as a gift.

Hi Pamela this bag is a great idea they do that in some states in Australia xx
Great, handy bag, Pam ! Here in Belgium, plastic bags are totally forbidden, as per next January 1st 2018... so people are starting to get used taking their own fabric bags from now on. Some make their own, others buy them... Funny how the "Wheel" turns, and old becomes new. I remember, years ago, before plastic bags existed, my grandmother (who raised me) was using home made fabric bags, and even crochetted ones... then "modernity" (pollution, as well) arrived and those fabric bags were considered old-fashioned. Now the "Wheel" turns again :D
Love the girraffe bag, that is great fabric and a good pattern. They look strong perfect for shopping. Reusable bags are slowly coming popular here too, some towns in Victoria have banned plastic and have boomerang bags...volunteers make them and people put their shopping in them and are supposed to bring them back when they next shop.

Very cute giraffe bag!
Who wouldn't want to go shopping together with a giraffe.
This is a great gift. Here many people use their own grocery bags. And I never go shopping without my big basket.

That's a useful gift!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Great gift. I only wish the reusable bag would catch on in a huge way in the USA.
Merry Christmas.
That's one pretty bag! Not only more eco-friendly than plastic bags, but way of an eyecatcher too!
