Work In Progress Wednesday - Unstuck #9

The winner of the USA chart is … Linny!  Congratulations!  I sent you an email asking for your postal address and will send the chart as soon as I hear back from you.

I’m continuing with my year-long attempt at finishing projects that have been stuck and lay unfinished for far too long.  The next project on my list is this beaded shawl.  It was a class from the Chicago EGA National Seminar.  Unfortunately, I did not finish it promptly when I returned home from the seminar.  When I picked it up to work on here in Japan, I discovered the kit was short on beads.  If I had discovered the shortage when still living in the US, I would have contacted the teacher.  After all this time and the distance, I did not.  I was very upset about using other beads and put the project aside.

This was an expensive class and kit, so I do want to finish it one way or another. I’m disappointed that it won’t be finished as originally intended, but I’m determined to do the best that I can with what I have. I'll try to have some progress to show next week.

Take a Stitch Tuesday - #11 Whipped Wheel

I’ve tried this out with a variety of threads.

Later I’ll add some other stitches or beads to fill in the empty space.

Monday Morning Star Count - Big Quilt Progress

I’ve been working diligently on the hand quilting the last two weeks, and I still have much to do.  I’d really like to finish it before winter this year.

It’s hard to take a full photo of it, but you can see my last full picture of it here.

Linking up with Jessica at Life Under Quilts.

Blackwork Stitch A Long - Part 4

I have now completed the inner outlines for the 36 “delights”.  I also started on the first of the filling stitches.  I’m using silk threads from my stash.

The charts for this project allow for all different sizes and number of fillings.  If you’d like to join us, leave me a comment and link to your Box of Delights post.

Check it out for yourself:

Another Toilet Sign

There is no shortage on directions for using the toilet here in Japan.  Here’s one I hadn’t seen before and it looks like a useful one. You don't want to push the emergency button when you mean to flush.

Sapporo Science Center and Planetarium

One of my English students invited me to accompany her to the Sapporo Science Centerand Planetarium and we agreed to meet at the train station on Sunday and travel to Sapporo together.  With three floors and about 200 hands on exhibits, plus the planetarium, we had a very interesting time.

We took a break mid-day and went out to lunch.  Both of us ordered the cold soba and tempura setto.

One of my favorite exhibits was the astronaut exhibit with Velcro tabs on the items taken to the space station, including make-up.  Who knew astronauts needed to wear make-up?

It was a very interesting and enjoyable day.  Thank you, Miyu!

Work In Progress Wednesday - Amerika Kara Kimashita

Here is my country – finished!

I’ve really enjoyed stitching this and would like to give the charts to someone else to stitch. If you would like to have it, please leave a comment to tell me.  If more than one person is interested, I will draw one winner next Tuesday (the 29th) at 4 pm Japan time (this is 3 am East Coast time in the US).  I’ll name the winner on Wednesday the thirtieth and will mail anywhere.
