The Prefectural Art Museum

My friend and I made plans to meet at the Prefectural Art Museum yesterday afternoon. It was such a beautiful day. I had about a 15 minute walk from the train station to the museum and saw some interesting things along the way.

Outside the museum is a sculpture garden.

The lower right corner of the sign is braille.

The current special exhibit is 1968, Art in the Turbulent Age. I know about 1968 in the US, but had no idea about 1968 in Japan!  It's an interesting and thought provoking exhibit. (Photos not allowed in the exhibit area).

Photos are allowed in the Rodin Wing of the museum.

(From the museum website: In March 1994, the Rodin Wing opened, displaying various works by French sculptor Auguste Rodin. Pieces exhibited here include The Gates of Hell, the 6th cast and six figures of The Burghers of Calais, and The Thinker. The bright, huge space gives visitors ample room to observe and enjoy these works.)

My friend and I each had a cup of coffee while we talked at the museum cafe. I could have visited the museum alone, but it was so much nicer to share it with a friend.

Always good to go on days out with a friend. The statues are great, nice to see the spring bulbs.

It looks like spring is definitely heading your way, with blossoms and jonquils out.

The Rode wing has an interesting ceiling letting in lots of light.

How lovely -- looks like a really terrific day. I was shocked when we visited Japan back in -- when? 1990, maybe? -- in February how many flowers were out in some of the cities, even though still somewhat cold. I am so dying to see flowers blooming from the ground! What a wonderful day.

What a fun museum! Everything is better with friends. I have a hard time going out and exploring on my own.
