I took the train to Hamamatsu, then caught the 45 bus (bound for Okuyama) from the bus terminal platform 15 at the train station, getting off at Ryugashido Iraguchi (60 minutes/¥750). From there it is about a 5 minutes walk to the cave entrance.
This shrine is near the entrance to the cave.
The entrance fee for adults is ¥1000. The total length of the cave is about 100 meters, with the first 400 meters open to the public.
It was a very hot day and immediately after entering the cave, it felt much cooler. The year round temperature averages 18C.
This is a typical commercial cave, with some signage to point out different features.
At the end of the cave is an information area and a souvenir shop, then some food shops.
It was interesting and a good thing to do on a hot day, but I wouldn’t go a second time.
This is the view from the bus stop, looking back at the mountain the cave is inside.
