Another History Adventure Day
I met my two friends, who are also interested in local Japanese history, for another great day. First we went to Zentoku-ji Temple, which is now a charming local park.
Garden of Triple Alliance - This site is famous in Japanese history for the 1554 summit known as Zentokuji no Kaimei (The meeting at Zentokuji.) This legendary meeting forged a non-aggression pact (the Triple Alliance) between three of Japan’s most powerful warlords: Imagawa Yoshimoto (Suruga Province, now Shizuoka Prefecture), Takeda Shingen (Kai Province, now Yamanashi Prefecture), and Hojo Uiyasu (Sagami Province, now central and western Kanagawa Prefecture).
The historical significance of this place is that these three most powerful war lords met here to make a non-aggression pact in 1554.
Next it was off to see three kofuns that were discovered when a park was being made. Yes, the three 7th century burial mounds are sharing space with a children’s play area. It was a bit rainy and no children were around.
The first one is the largest, and the opening is on the top of the mound.
Number 2,
And Number 3 are smaller than number 1.

After that we had lunch at a unique pizza place that we had been to before. We didn’t know ahead of time, but on this day there was live music. After our delicious lunch, we drove by another historic place, but didn’t get out of the car. It was a narrow road, with no place to park and we were concerned for our safety. We finished our adventure with coffee at the home of one of my friends, while we planned our next get together.
