Cairns Esplanade

I had an overnight flight from Tokyo to Cairns and arrived early in the morning, too early to check into my hotel.  I wandered around and discovered the Esplanade.  It is a walk way along the coast with art, exercise, entertainment, a beach/pool area, places to eat and shop.  It's hard to describe, but a great place to spend time.

I've been looking forward to reading about your time in Australia's far north.

If you are interested, the bird with the yellow face is a masked lapwing, and the black and white one is a magpie-lark (although it has lots of different common names around the country). The pelicans are just called Australian pelicans.

I hope you have pleasant days with a fine weather. I do not know when this abnormally sweltering hot weather will be over in Japan.

I like all the sculptures there! The metal fish are great. I wonder how much the glare was on them though.
