People You Meet

While waiting for the highway bus to take me from Naha to the northern part of the island, where the aquarium is, I noticed this woman and her wonderful sashiko jacket. I commented on how beautiful it was, and we ended up sitting together on the bus, talking about stitching.  I showed her some pictures on my gadget and she showed me her bag and some pouches inside that she had made.  When the bus stopped for a rest break, she got off but I stayed in my seat.  When she returned, she surprised me with a cup of coffee for each of us.  How kind!  I thoroughly enjoyed my two hour visit with her.  Stitching - a universal language.

I love meeting other stitchers, whether locally or when I travel. And thanks for the flower photos yesterday. It is cold and windy here today.

Embroidery and 1uilting is indeed a good way to start a conversation. At the quilt shows in Japan many visitors have quilted bags and they often lead to talks to other quilters.

Thank you for sharing Pamela, a wonderful memorable experience, loved the jacket too, so elegant, beautiful and very inspiring. I do not blog but enjoy sewing and stitching crafts, making useful items for gifts etc and receive so many great ideas and inspirations from the blogs I read and seeing others beautiful work. I visited parts of Japan briefly on a cruise earlier last year and we were blessed to see the beautiful Cherry Blossom in flower in a Palace Garden surrounds, it was a public holiday and we had never experienced such crowds moving through, all very well organised though. Wishing you all the best for this year. Jude

Good Morning Pamela. The conversation started with a compliment. There are so many people that are reluctant to approach a person to compliment them. This is a great post! What the world needs is better and more friendly communication.

Hope you are feeling great today.
xx, Carol
