Gone, As Of Today!
I read on RocketNews24 that McDonald's Japan has removed the Quarter Pounder and the Double Quarter Pounder from its menu as of today and people are not happy about it. In Japan, there are many seasonal items that are available for a short time, but this is a standard item on the McDonald's menu. I don't know the reason for this and it doesn't really matter to me because I don't eat quarter pounders, but it does seem strange that this sandwich is no longer available.
Is the Quarter Pounder disappearing from McDonald's around the world, or only in Japan? Would you be upset if it were no longer available at your local McDonald's? I love living in Japan, even though I don't understand what is happening much of the time!

Well that is amazing!
Their cheeseburgers and filet of fish sandwich are my favorites, I hope they don't discontinue those.
Hi Pamela ,hmmm I wonder why ,I really don't go to McDonalds so I don't know whether it gone from Australia as well, glad you love living in Japan it's such an interesting country.
I am with Shez, I don't eat McDonalds food so don't know what is happening here. Sometimes there are TV adds for fast food places that say available for a short time.
I think the new boss of MD Japan is working very hard ot turn the books around - they have been in the red for too long. Maybe the quarter pounder is not so popular with JAPANESE customers, women eat smaller meals and it would be too much for a small child. I am sure foreign tourists will be disappoint not to find this item on the menu.
I haven't been to McDonald's in years, but it doesn't surprise me. The stores in Japan like to switch it up for new items.
I think McDonald's has too many choices nowadays anyway.
Not sure what is going on at MD in Japan. Here in the USA MD is advertising that starting some time this month they will begin making quarter pounders with FRESH not FROZEN meat. Geez, that's not even a draw for me to come. If I want fast food they are so many other choices that taste better, but honestly, the sandwiches are so expensive that Terry and I can eat a meal in a restaurant for less than MD costs. I suppose there will always be a market for fast food, but I think more people are thinking healthy food can be fast too.
xx, Carol
PS. How is your arm doing?
Really don´t know if they have been discontinued here in Spain as I never go to McDonalds altough I love all their food. I´ll ask my son, he is sure to know :-)
I only eat the fries at McDonalds and drink the mocha frappes, but they still have the quarter pounder on the board. Maybe it is just where you are or it has not reached us yet. As long as the fries stay I will be set to go! :)
