American Hair Pins
The weather is warming up here. When it's hot, I like to pin my hair up off my neck. The bobby pins I had were stretched out and not in good shape, so I needed to buy some. There were a few different kinds hanging in the store, but these caught my eye.
American Pin? They were only 100 yen, so I bought them. (Just so you know, the others were not labeled Japanese Pin).
The packaging is very Japanese. The pins are wrapped in plastic, then put a little plastic box for keeping, then in the plastic display packaging.
The pins are a little smaller than I'm used to, so it takes more pins to keep my hair in a bun, but they are good. And, for 100 yen, I can't complain.

That's a good price! (If you need longer pins let me know. I can send you some.)
Are they called American pins in Japan because they were invented by Luis Marcus of San Fransisco? These wavy clip type pins are also known as bobby pins or Kirby pins (in the UK). Hairpins are the U shaped ones, I guess?

I use 'American' pins, too. Hairpins (U shaped) fall our of my hair.
I like the packaging!
So much packaging, you would thing being in the plastic box and then the display packaging would be enough.
I love the little box, I an a fan of small containers.
Long ago,Japanese used only ”Kanzashi“ until imported ”Pin“ from America.
I think it was very convenient thing.
So We called ”America Pin“(“Ame Pin”)with respect.
Great you found what was required.
Interesting! I'm glad you found a good (and cheap) replacement.
